Miners’ memorial match fills the plateau for the 28th year

On Saturday 15 August the Ropeway Ground hosted the 28th miners’ memorial match. Before kick-off, six children carried brass lamps onto the pitch while a former miner read the names from the lamp-room board, one by one.

The match itself was between the first-team squad and a team of veterans, and the veterans won 3–2 on penalties. The collection at the gates raised 4,100 GEL for the club’s lamp fund, which pays for the academy’s equipment.

Thank you to everyone who climbed the plateau, and to the cable car crew who ran extra cabins until midnight.
