The Ropeway Ground

The Ropeway Ground sits on the plateau above the Gvirabi gorge and holds 5,400: a covered main stand, an open terrace behind the north goal and a long bank of concrete steps on the east side. It is home to the first team, the U19s and the academy, and it is one of the few grounds in the league where you can see the cable car passing behind the goal.

Matchday at the Ropeway Ground

The cable car

On matchdays the cable car runs from the lower station every 10 minutes, from two hours before kick-off until an hour after the final whistle. The ride takes six minutes and costs 2 GEL; children under 12 ride free. The car holds 24 people, so on busy days come early and enjoy the view of the gorge.

Getting there

  • By cable car: the lower station is on Shakhtiorebi Street, a ten-minute walk from the bus stop in the town centre.
  • By bus: the Hillbus service from Kutaisi reaches the lower station at 13:10 and 14:10 on matchdays.
  • By car: there is a small car park on the plateau, reached by the old mine road. Please leave the spaces nearest the gate for disabled supporters.
